- Did you know that... some of these famous men are/were Knights of Columbus men:
- President John F. Kennedy, Babe Ruth, Floyd Patterson, Vince Lombardi, Mike Ditka, Mike Sweeny (Captain Kansas City Royals), and former BC Lt. Governor Steven Point, Archbishop J. Michael Miller and almost all bishops and priests within North America including Cardinals Marc Ouelet, Thomas Collins and Gerald Lacroix.
- Did you know that ... The Secret to membership growth is VISIBILITY. Men will not join an invisible organization, they may not even join the Knights of Columbus. But they will join what they see if they like what they see. These simple "Did you Know" statements, should be posted one each week in our Parish Bulletin, thus, they will help our council to educate the families within our parish and allow them to “see” more of the great works the Order and our council does to make this a better world. Our Saint Angela Merici Council 5210 needs to have these statements listed in our Parish Bulletin. There are enough here to keep us going for several months.
- Did you know that … that around the world, wherever Knights of Columbus can be found, you will find us assisting with victims of fire, flooding, earthquakes, terrorism and any other form of natural or man made disaster?
- Did you know that … Special Olympics was founded by a Knight of Columbus by the name of Sargent Shriver along with his wife Eunice Kennedy Shriver? The Knights of Columbus organization also partnered with Special Olympics. In 2016, the Knights paid travel expenses of all Canadian and American Special Olympians to the World Games in Los Angeles, California.
- Did you know that …The Knights of Columbus offer our families Faith in Action programs in the areas of Church, Community, Family and Life, all designed to help build the Domestic Church – our Catholic families.
- Did you know that …Knights of Columbus were founded 1882 to provide financial support to Catholic widows and orphans and today ranks as one of the top three insurance companies in North America. Knights have over $111 billion of insurance in force protecting our members and their families.
- Did you know that ... in 2017, Knights of Columbus Councils world wide collected and donated over $185,000,000 while donating over 75.6 million volunteer hours to feed the hungry, provide clothing and shelter to those in need bringing our 10 year total to over $1.6 billion in charitable contributions thereby enabling us to change lives and save lives?
- Did you know that …The Knights of Columbus was founded by a young, Catholic priest in 1882 in New Haven Connecticut; count nearly 2,000,000 men among their numbers in 17 different countries and continue to grow.
- Did you know that …that Knights of Columbus provide financial support to Seminarians and Postulants and that Seminarians can now join the Order at no cost?
- Did you know that …Knights of Columbus has expanded into Poland, Ukraine, Lithuania, South Korea and more recently, into France.
